Has Rihanna Previously Turned Down The Superbowl?
Some of you may recall that Rihanna has been asked to perform at the Super Bowl in the past.
In 2019, the NFL faced a difficult task in finding performers for their game held in Atlanta since many of them rallied around Colin Kaepernick, former quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers. The public was stirred up by his actions back in 2016 when he knelt during the anthem to bring awareness and show support against social injustice and police brutality.
Months after the championship game, Rihanna told Vogue how she “couldn’t be a sell-out.” She did not agree with aspects of the NFL organization, and therefore did not want to “be of service to them in any way.”
